Thank You and Looking Forward to Hard Work and a Great Concert!
The dance interview will have the following components:
1 Self-choreographed solo

Please note that your solo must be entirely self-choreographed and self-cleaned. It should be about 2 minutes. We can play cd or ipod.
We will start at 5:00pm in the Lp Dance Room.
Each scholar will take approximately 30 minutes.
Doors will be locked and no one will be allowed in the dance room while interviews are in progress. Please wait in the hall.
Please sign up on the door outside of the dance room on Monday for which time slot you would prefere. Times will be approximate, depending on what the judges need to see and question.

We have been talking about posture, alignment, and the body in class.
Here are some pics to inspire you :)
This last pic/quote is from my dear friend Robin Konie who I went to school and danced with. She has a website called "Thank Your Body". check it out for good tips.
I am excited for a new start to a new school year!
I have lots to teach you and I know you have lots you can teach me too. This year I hope that we can not only learn all about all the aspects of dance, but that we can also learn how to be inquisitive, problem-solving, creative, active and fun loving people who care about each other. It is my hope that we can all try and "turn over a new leaf" in our own lives to work a little harder, and to be a little better.
Dance and teaching is my passion. I hope to share my passion with you and most importantly, I hope that you can come away from my class having learned something that you can take away with you and use for the rest of your life (even if you are not going to be a "dancer")
I want you to succeed. Please come positive with an open mind and ready to learn.

Each person wishing to audition who "MISSED" the audition from before must first email Mrs. Di Lello to confirm that he/she is coming and to get the forms.

NEW PDC REQUIREMENT:
-"HIGHLY encouraged to take Dance 3 (which is UVU concurrent enrollment credit) for all PDC members"
-Incoming Sophomores have the option to take Dance 2 (one semester, first semester) instead of Dance 3 (full year class), while on PDC. It must be Dance 2 in the high school, not in the middle school, since they are different levels.

This Performance:
Junior high and high school students are invited to attend Joe Goode’s student matinee performance.
“[Goode’s work] does everything good art is supposed to do – touch viewers’ souls and minds – and make them want more.” -San Francisco Examiner
Joe Goode has created a genre of dance theater that combines text, gestures, and humor with his own deeply physical, high velocity dancing. With an emphasis on understanding, compassion and tolerance among people through the innovative use of dance and theater, each Joe Goode performance will not just entertain but also provoke and inspire.

Graded Assignment: Concert Critique (50 points)
It is a required graded assignment for students in Dance 1, 2, 3 and PDC to attend one university or professional level modern dance concert a semester and write a critique on it. There are only a couple approved performances available, do not leave it until the last minute at the end of the semester! Through attending and viewing artistic concert dance, students are able to see professional dancers and professional choreography, thus enhancing their perception, understanding, and appreciation of dance. Students see new possibilities for dance and what to aspire to when dancing, performing, and choreographing themselves. There is so much that can be learned through watching.
