GUEST choreographer for DANCE 3!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello!
We have something unique and very special for Dance 3 this year! We are going to bring in a guest choreographer from Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company to set a piece on our class! Usually this experience only happens with the dance company. This has never been done before with a non-company class, but I believe our dancers can do it!
Our guest choreographer only has one week leave from the company to do this, therefore, we need everyone in attendance each class period. We will also need to have a few after school practices to get the piece done. Plan on 1 hour right after school on Mon, Wed, Fri of next week (Feb 3-7th).
In order to cover the cost of bringing in this guest artist ($300 plus gas), I would like to ask for a voluntary donation of $10-20 per student. I will set up an account in the school's finance office under "Dance 3 Guest Choreography."
This is such an awesome experience, and I know the choreographer personally, and she is FANTASTIC! It will be a great learning experience all crammed into one week!
Thanks for your support.

UVU High School Day of Dance Field Trip Reminder
Reminder of the all day school excused field trip THIS FRIDAY!
You must have turned in your signed permission form and your paid receipt in order to attend.
Since you are taking 2 dance classes, one of them can count towards participation make-up work. You will also be attending an informal performance, which can count as a concert report, since it is college-level.
Make sure you read your permission form with all the details for when to meet the bus (7:15 AM), what to bring (clothes and lunch), etc.
Look forward to going on this fun filled day-of-dance with you on Friday! Let's represent Lone Peak!

Dance Master Class this Saturday (great for make up work)
Love modern/contemporary, especially release technique and floorwork???
If you are an advanced dancer, in Dance 3 or PDC, or equivalent, this master class is a great option for your supplemental dance technique and can be used as dance make up. It can actually count for me as 2 dance participation make-ups because of the time.
It is open to professionals, educators, and pre-professionals (like the high school dancers on the Ririe-Woodbury Step Up Company, or the advanced modern/contemporary dancers at Lp). Only attend if you will work hard and take the class seriously, as it is an advanced level!
This would be something you would do on your own and is not a school sponsored activity.
Following is Quoted from Juan Carlos Claudio, professor of dance at U of U and RW Alumni:
This is a friendly reminder about:

LPHS Dance Tank Top
So,
for those interested in purchasing a tank top with the Lp and anchor design and quotes, here is a picture of the ladies tank:

If you want one, please sign up outside the dance room door. Once I get a number of how many people are interested, then I can get you the price. I'm thinking it "might" end up around $17. Anyone can get one.
Deadline to sign up is next week.

WELCOME STUDENTS!
Welcome to a new year here at Lone Peak High School!
I look forward to having you in my classes and learning from each of you. This is going to be a great year with new opportunities and excitement!
First day of class you DO NOT NEED TO WEAR DANCE/WORK-OUT CLOTHES. We will be going through the disclosure document, Concurrent Enrollment (for Dance 3), checking out locks, and getting to know each other.
Your second time you have the class you will be expected to come with appropriate attire and supplies. Come with an open mind and an open heart, ready to live and learn and dive right in.
I love what I do and am passionate about dance and education. I hope we can finding something new each day as we progress on our journey. It is not about getting to the end, but what we do and learn along the way.
See you all next week!
Don't hesitate to contact me via email if you have any questions!
