UVU High School Day of Dance Field Trip Reminder

Reminder of the all day school excused field trip THIS FRIDAY!

You must have turned in your signed permission form and your paid receipt in order to attend.

Since you are taking 2 dance classes, one of them can count towards participation make-up work.  You will also be attending an informal performance, which can count as a concert report, since it is college-level.

Make sure you read your permission form with all the details for when to meet the bus (7:15 AM), what to bring (clothes and lunch), etc.

Look forward to going on this fun filled day-of-dance with you on Friday!  Let's represent Lone Peak!

WELCOME STUDENTS!

Welcome to a new year here at Lone Peak High School!

I look forward to having you in my classes and learning from each of you.  This is going to be a great year with new opportunities and excitement!

First day of class you DO NOT NEED TO WEAR DANCE/WORK-OUT CLOTHES.  We will be going through the disclosure document, Concurrent Enrollment (for Dance 3), checking out locks, and getting to know each other.

Your second time you have the class you will be expected to come with appropriate attire and supplies.  Come with an open mind and an open heart, ready to live and learn and dive right in.

I love what I do and am passionate about dance and education.  I hope we can finding something new each day as we progress on our journey.  It is not about getting to the end, but what we do and learn along the way.

End of Year Stuff!

The End of the Year is Wrapping Up! Remember: Even though we had to turn in locks, we will still be dressing and dancing/working out!!! 

For the Dance Classes, here is the Concert Performance Self-Assessment link you need to fill out as a part of your grade. Be sure to write your name on it and submit it!

Here is a calendar for our classes with the end of the semester coming up.
Remember the Following that may be due for your class:  journals, written final, dancing final, concert self-assessment, pro concert report, make-up work, etc.

Lone Peak has many diverse dance teams and companies!  Go to the parent meetings to find out which ones are right for you.  Try out for everything, you never know what you might fall in love with.  You get better at auditioning by auditioning. It is the every-other-year rotation for the National High School Dance Festival to happen, and it is happening in Miami, FL this next year!!!

Meeting and Clinics are mandatory.  If you are serious about being on the company, you will make the arrangements to attend and show your potential commitment early.

MEN & LADIES always welcome to audition!!!!!

End of Semester 1 / Term 2

Hello!

I want to apologize for my absence on Friday Jan 11th.  The previous evening I went into the after hours emergency with my son, and we were both tested positive for the bad respiratory flu A that is going around and I was strictly prohibited to go to school.

Please check your grades.
If you turned things in late, I will get them in when I go to school on Monday.
Monday is the last day to turn in any make up work.

Dance 2, 3, and Company:
Many of you have neglected to turn in a concert report!  This was something I warned everyone about at the start of the year to not forget.  This is hurting your grade.  If you also have a lot of absences or have not completed a test, this will also hurt your grade.

Dance Field Trip

HELLO!

If you have not done a Concert Report yet, please attend this "school excused" field trip to see the Rire-Woodbury Dance Co. Matinee Performance.

It is this Wednesday 12/12/12
We will leave Lone Peak at 10:00 AM
Concert is at 11:00 AM
We will arrive back in time for A4

Cost: $5 (even for parent chaperones)
I will be looking for about 3 chaperones to join us.

PDC Dance Concert POSTER

Your Performance is Coming Up!!!

Dance 2, Dance 3, and Social Dance will all be performing in Lone Peak Performing Dance Company's Winter Concert!


Full Dress Rehearsal is Wednesday December 5th after school!
Concert is December 6th & 7th 2012.
Show starts at 7:00pm.
Call time with warm up (for PDC, Dance 2 & 3) is at 5:00 PM on stage.

Tickets will cost $3 - $4.
More information will be posted soon concerning costumes and show order.

Please do not be absent for any classes here on out until the show.
This is required for a grade in Dance 2/3, and is in place of the cha cha technique test for social dance for those who committed to that choice.

This is going to be a lot of fun!
Remember to keep the "first thing from be the change"a secret :)

Spring Dance Concert!

FRIENDLY REMINDER
as you all head off to forget school on your Spring Break :)

Lp PDC Spring Concert is
Tuesday and Wednesday April 24th and 25th 2012.  
This is mandatory for Dance 2, Dance 3, and PDC. 


Dress Rehearsal is Monday April 23rd after school
Concert starts at 7:00pm
$5, $4 Students, $20 Families (up to 6), 4 and under are free

Please do not miss any class periods prior to the concert as valuable choreography and cleaning work is being done.  Thank You.

NEW PDC Audition Requirement!

GREAT NEWS!!!

...especially for you incoming sophomores! (since you schedules are so hard to get classes into)

NEW PDC REQUIREMENT:
-"HIGHLY encouraged to take Dance 3 (which is UVU concurrent enrollment credit) for all PDC members"
-Incoming Sophomores have the option to take Dance 2 (one semester, first semester) instead of Dance 3 (full year class), while on PDC.  It must be Dance 2 in the high school, not in the middle school, since they are different levels.
