UVU High School Day of Dance Field Trip Reminder

Reminder of the all day school excused field trip THIS FRIDAY!

You must have turned in your signed permission form and your paid receipt in order to attend.

Since you are taking 2 dance classes, one of them can count towards participation make-up work.  You will also be attending an informal performance, which can count as a concert report, since it is college-level.

Make sure you read your permission form with all the details for when to meet the bus (7:15 AM), what to bring (clothes and lunch), etc.

Look forward to going on this fun filled day-of-dance with you on Friday!  Let's represent Lone Peak!
~ Mrs. Di Lello

Dance Master Class this Saturday (great for make up work)

Love modern/contemporary, especially release technique and floorwork???

If you are an advanced dancer, in Dance 3 or PDC, or equivalent, this master class is a great option for your supplemental dance technique and can be used as dance make up.  It can actually count for me as 2 dance participation make-ups because of the time.
It is open to professionals, educators, and pre-professionals (like the high school dancers on the Ririe-Woodbury Step Up Company, or the advanced modern/contemporary dancers at Lp).  Only attend if you will work hard and take the class seriously, as it is an advanced level!
This would be something you would do on your own and is not a school sponsored activity.

Following is Quoted from Juan Carlos Claudio, professor of dance at U of U and RW Alumni:
This is a friendly reminder about:

*** Saturday Studio Series: Monthly Saturday morning class for intermediate to advanced contemporary dancers ***

Mezzanine Studio, Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center
John Allen (Tulane University, Ririe Woodbury Dance Company Alum) $10

Saturday Studio Series has become more affordable with a fuller, longer class for you. After a careful review of the previous seasons, and in conjunction with Ririe Woodbury's 50th anniversary season, we have revised our class format.Saturday Studio classes are held on the first Saturday of the month. The great news for you dancers is that our fee now is only $10, to take classes with the same amazing array of teachers!! The class will be one hour and forty-five minutes (10:00 to 11:45 a.m.), to allow enough time for a full blown modern technique class. These classes are truly valuable opportunities for local dance professionals to stay inspired and up-to-date!

This month's guest artist: John Allen is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Theatre and Dance at Tulane University. Outside of Tulane, he works as a freelance choreographer having set works on such international companies as Russia’s Kannon Dance Company and the Ekaterinburg Contemporary Arts Centre Dance Company as well as South Africa’s First Physical Theatre. He has also worked with Louisiana-based Baton Rouge Ballet and Of Moving Colors at the regional level. He choreographs for and performs with New Orleans-based, Tsunami Dance Company and his cooperative company, John/Allen Project, has performed in such venues as St Petersburg’s OPEN LOOK Festival, the Harare International Festival of the Arts, and South Africa’s National Arts Festival. He is active in giving teaching and choreographic residencies at universities throughout the world. His performance background includes dancing with such companies as the Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company, SB Dance and Steve Koester and Dancers and performing in original works by Doug Varone, Sean Curan and Daniel Ezralow among others.

Make Up Work

Hello!

It's been a whirlwind starting off school.  I hope everyone is doing well and keeping up with homework and attendance.

If not, please be sure to review the school's attendance policy and your class disclosure document in regards to absences and make up work.  Remember to complete make up work withing 2 weeks of your parent-excused absence.  Attendance school does not make up your participation points for your absence.

Make up work options can be found in the "MORE" page tab by clicking on the Make Up Work link for dance Printed "Dance Make Up Options" can be found in the dance room for you to take.  They are in the black turning paper holder on the journal shelf.

ABSENT or TARDY?  Please check in with Mrs. Di Lello if you come in late or after Mrs. Di Lello has taken roll to let her know you came in, as class may have already started.  It is your responsibility to make sure your absence is changed to a tardy by the teacher if you came in late.

Keep up your good work.
Be sure to contact me or speak with me if you have problems with your grade or attendance before it gets too late.

~Mrs. D
